"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." - 2 Chronicles 7:14
Many are running from God because they believe that they have sinned away their chance of ever getting right with God.
All through the old-testament, we see people and nations with untold sins, yet when they repented genuinely, God forgave them.
Some examples:
1. King Ahab. 1 Kings 21:25-29.
2. Nation, Nineveh. Jonah 3:4-8, 4:1-2.
3. Kings David (the man after God’s heart). 2 Samuel 12:9-13.
These repented and forgave them. The reason many wouldn't ask for forgiveness is (1) Pride: this is from they devil, (1 John 2:16).
(2) Condemnation: many condemn themselves, that they totally forgot about the goodness of God, (2 Corinthians 5:17).
God knows when we genuinely repent, so we can't lie about it. He did not call you because you are perfect, he called you to make you perfect.
In Matthew 18:21-22, Peter was asking Jesus, how often should one forgive, when someone offend another? Jesus responded, seventy times seven. If man that have love, can forgive a fellow man, seventy times seven; how much more God? Remember, God does not have love, He is LOVE! (1 John 4:8); also, we have and in a better covenant than the old.
This is not a license to sin. But, if you make a mistake, repent! Don't run from God, run to Him!
God bless you.
