"And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands? Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him." - Mark 6:2-3.
Why were they offended at him?
He had no form nor comeliness; that he should be desired. Isaiah 53:2, they knew his growing up days, they knew his family and many other things as you can imagine.
You see, there are people assigned by God as a deliverer, but for familiarity, people don't pay attention to the gift of God in and on these individuals. Rather, people are expecting; Angels, Jesus or God Himself to manifest before they can and will believe. Well, that is not going to happen. You are either sensitive in the spirit and recognize those sent your way or just watch life pass-by.
"Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe." John 4:48. Verse 49 showed that the nobleman believed in him, he wasn't waiting for signs and wonders; and in verse 52 he had his testimony or encounter as the case may be, the 'desired' result.
Jesus speaking in John 20:29 said " ...blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed." the choice is absolutely ours, to believe or to live in doubt. One thing is certain, His Word (Holy Bible) cannot fail.
Jesus is Lord!
