John 3:16.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
God loves everyone, that is the reason He gave Jesus, as the ransom for all. But, only those who acknowledge (receipt) His love, will be saved and are entitle to the blessing.
It is amazing how people after accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour; embark on keeping the commandments with the energy of the flesh, then turnaround and think they are more righteous than God. Like the rich young ruler "I have kept all thy commandment from my youth".
1 John 4:19 says,
"We love him, because he first loved us."
We have to settle it right now, in our heart that God is faithful, righteous and He love us. This truth cannot be change.
I understand many doubt God's love when they are faced with outright test and trials.
The Bible told us that we will have them (persecution), in this world for choosing to live godly. 2 Timothy 3:12,
"Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution."
Also in 2 Corinthians 1:8, the scripture says,
"For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life:" simply because they choose to live godly. It is all about making the DECISION, that even death cannot stop 'me' from loving and following God.
When these things start happening, that is not the right time to start doubting God's love; we must recognize the devil at work.
Matthew 16:25 says,
"For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it."
The enemy will try to make us doubt God's love and faithfulness, that is why in John 14:27, the scripture also says,
"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
He is telling us before hand because the enemy will try to take away our peace, once we decide to live godly.
There are lots of things that want to trouble us or to make us be afraid. But he said, "don't be afraid or troubled".
We have His promises to validate His presence and love for us; for example in Isaiah 43:2,
"When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee." you can read further to verse 4. But, "when" would indicate of a certainty, right?!
In Genesis 12:3,
"And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee:... "
These are just some of His promises, that validates His presence, protection and love for us, and the Holy Bible is full of them, God is faithful and He love us, let's settle that in us once and for all.
The idea that God does not care, should be trashed. We have love, God does not have love; He is Love!
The bottom line is our commitment to doing, "... Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.", and we'll enjoy His best. John 2:5.
Jesus is Lord!
