But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee.
2 Samuel 7:15.
This promise is in response to King David from God, when he made an enquiry about building a house for the Ark of God. He loved God and was desperate to please God in anyway possible. Verse 2 said,
2 Samuel 7:2,
"That the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in an house of cedar, but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains."
To King David this wasn't right, and he wants it changed. However, God told him, that his son would, and not him, but he pleased God, that he had it in his heart; and got blessed for that. Even today, David is a household name.
Haggai 1:4 says,
"Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste?" which house? The house of God, the Church!
How comfortable are you when you see certain things out of place or not the way it should be, and do not portrait the right image, as far as God is concerned.
- how do you feel, when the gospel is being perverted?
- how do you feel when a pastor, Evangelist, teacher or even a church building is not properly kept and not representing God's glory?
The list are endless...
Do the things of God move you, to the point, you want to make it better? It requires sacrifice. It's what King David did, it's what Abraham did, and a host of others, that secured their place in eternity, likewise built a name for their descendants in the process. They were compassionate about the things of God.
What sacrifice are you making to build a proper foundation for your lineage to improve upon? Make up the hedge today.
Life does not just consist of eating and drinking, and stockpiling stuff-up. Where you place your priorities today, matters. Nobody will live forever on earth. however, how we live, determines where we go.
Jesus is Lord!
