The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
- Romans 8:16
At new birth, our spirit is quickened or made alive.
This(spirit) died in man, when Adam sinned in the garden of Eden.
God told Adam the day you eat of the tree, you shalt surely die. Genesis 2:17. So, it was the spirit of Adam that died, when he sinned by disobedient. I have heard people say, 'but he(Adam) didn't die as God had said' yes, he did!
Through Christ Jesus, the spirit that was dead to the things of God is quickened back. Now the Spirit of God is bearing witness with our spirit, that we are no longer under the authority and kingdom of Satan, due to man's fall. But, we have been translated into the Kingdom of God through Jesus Christ sacrifice on the cross, and that we are now children of God.
Being a child of God is good, but there is more for us. There is a purpose for which we were created. We can only know why, understand why and be guided, and also for what purpose. when the Spirit of God leads us step by step into it, through our spirit. This is however a process.
Are you a child of God? Good! But, every child is expected to grow and develop to maturity(to become a son). That is the reason we have the five fold Ministry gift; Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers to help us develop to the status and measure of the Christ(anointed), Ephesians 4:11-12. Many are children, but very few are sons.
Romans 8:14 says,
"For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God."
And in Romans 8:19,
"For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God." waiteth for sons not children, God expects us to develop into sons. Unfortunately, many stop at baby stage and never developed.
Too many remained baby all their life and never really get into what God has created them for. This is sad, but true! It a matter of choice, you can make a decision today to develop into God's fullness. Have a fruitful week!
Jesus is Lord!
