And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the Lord , and wept sore.
- 1 Samuel 1:10.
Here is a story of Hannah whose husband Elkanah had a second wife (Peninnah), Peninnah has children. But Hannah had none at the time, Peninnah continued to provoke Hannah sore to make her fret, 1 Samuel 1:6.
So, Hannah went into the temple to pray for a change of status, (for her heart was grieved by consistent provocation from her mate). She made a vow and asked for a specific request, 'a man child'. After which she continue to groan in the spirit as it were, because the scripture said about her, only her lips moved, but her words were not heard. Therefore, the Priest (Eli) thought she was drunk. She however stated that she was only pouring out her heart to God because of her desperation for a change of status. 1 Samuel 1:15.
Thereafter the Priest blessed her. She received the words of blessing, settle it within herself and went her way, ate lavishly from that moment onward and her countenance was no more sad. She also rose early in the morning to worship God, Philippians 4:6-7. These are proofs that she believed her prayers were answered, because she is at rest concerning the issue she had prayed for. Before the end of the same chapter, she was with her testimony and before the end of chapter 2, she had had additional three male children and two daughters.
Let's observe the process she applied again toward the delivery of her testimony.
She prayed, vowed, received a word of blessing, entered into her rest. Thereafter, took hold of her testimony. Hebrews 4:10-11 says,
"For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief."
Worrying wouldn't help us to achieve anything, as 1 Peter 5:7 put it,
"Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you."
Once we have prayed to him about the issue, it becomes necessary that we let him handle it from that time onward.
However, we need to know there are different types of prayer and have different rules of praying, but that is another topic for another time. Stay blessed and have a wonderful day, in Jesus name!
Jesus is Lord!
