And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.- Gen. 17:1.
The above scripture was a rebuke, because of what happened in chapter 16 of Genesis.
When God ask us not to sin, all of the time it's for our own benefit. The result of disobeying God in Genesis chapter sixteen, is what the world is suffering from to-date.
In Samuel chapter eight, the children of Israel demanded for their own king, and God told them "I Am your King" they refuse to obey, but insisted and finally God said OK have yourself a King; we have seen repercussion of that decision. How it has hinder the growth of that Nation.
Also, in Isaiah thirty-eight when God sent Isaiah the prophet to Hezekiah the king to set his house in order, for it's time for him to die. Vs 2 and 3 said the king, Hezekiah turned his face to the wall prayed and wept sore.
And God said ok, in vs 5 God said to Hezekiah, "... I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears:..." in chapter 39 we saw how King Hezekiah walked into error that could have been prevented, had he flow through in chapter 38.
When God give us a command it's all for our benefits, not His; disobeying God means we are obeying the enemy.
Right from Adam's transgression, we have seen that disobeying God has not helped us at all, rather put generations after generations into bondage. Yet, we still fall for the same traps over and over again through the "... Lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh and pride of life..." 1 John 2:16. "... we are not ignorant of his devices." 2 Cor. 2:11.
We can make a quality decision today to walk in obedience, and escape the traps of the devil. We are not perfect but, His grace will guide us.
We can start by obeying Joshua 1:8, Matthew 6:33 as a guide.
