Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:
1 Peter 4:4
The word "riot" have a footnote, 'dissipation': it means the following.
1. A dissolute course of life, in which health, money, etc., are squandered in pursuit of pleasure; profuseness in immoral indulgence, as late hours, riotous living, etc.; dissoluteness.
2. A trifle which wastes time or distracts attention.
3. (physics) A loss of energy.
Now, the unsaved think it is strange that you don't indulge in the aforementioned with them? Isn't it strange?
Unfortunately, many believers try to fit in, because they are afraid of persecution.
Grow up! Persecution is part of the Christian life. You are chosen, called out of the world system. The world is not going to like you for that, that you are chosen. So they will speak evil of you, to try to shame you or make you feel worthless. You have to know who you are in Christ, and stand your ground. There is so much at stake to be caught in the middle.
Jesus is Lord!
