Outside the spiritual benefits of the exercise, Jesus was also showing them by example, the importance of submitting to God's will as it may demand, no matter the circumstances, status and inconvenience. Jesus is the "Word of God" that became flesh, by whom were all things created and for whom they were all created, Colossians 1:16. Yet, He stooped down to wash his disciples feet. This gives a preview to Peter's reaction; how can you be the one to wash my foot?! Thanks be to God, he was corrected. This is way out of proportion, for this modern day generation. 'me wash your feet? Never!' there is more to it spiritually, than the physical exercise. However, we know the origin of this kind of attitude, pride, and the father of it, is the devil. He is the father of all that are under the influence of the spirit of pride. ...
