Many think because we are living under grace today, they can do whatever they like that goes against God's commands and get by with it! There are sins you can ask forgiveness for. There are some sins that will cut short one's days on the earth, however the spirit might be saved. And there are sins that cancel out one's salvation. In Ezekiel 2:7 the scripture says, "And thou shalt speak my words unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear: for they are most rebellious."
