Works Or Faith?

For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
- Matthew 5:20

Here Jesus is saying base on works of the laws, except your righteousness exceed the righteousness of the Scribes and Pharisees you don't claim to be righteous. These are not righteous; Because by works shall no man be justify, only by faith.
Let's look at Apostle Paul testimony in Philippians 3:3, when the matter of circumcision came up, he said
... Worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.
because the flesh is unreliable.

Paul was a Pharisees, one of the strictest sect among the Jewish region. He is saying here, have on confidence in the flesh, if any should have confidence in the flesh, he is more qualify. As regards keeping the law he is from the center of it. Here is how he qualify. Philippians 3:4-5
Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: [5] Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;
When you read further, you will see him talking about if any body is qualified at-all, "I am more" based on his root and association from childhood.
Apostle Paul is now saying, I have discovered that all the works are not able to bring me into Christ. In verse 9 he said,
And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
So, he (we) can only claim righteousness by faith, not by any kind of works.

So, if it's by works; your righteousness must need to exceed the Scribes and Pharisees. But, if it's of faith, then it's by grace. This is a gift from God through Jesus Christ, based on the finished works on the cross.

Jesus is Lord!

Press In

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.... – Colossians 3:16 Things in this old world aren't getting any better, and in recent times, the Holy Spirit has been speaking an urgent message to my heart. He's been saying, Press in. Draw in to a more intimate relationship with your heavenly Father. If you don't, you won't make it. If you do, you will see more glorious outpourings of God than you can imagine. That message isn't just for me. It's also for you—and for every other believer on the earth today. We are in the last of the last days of this age. Jesus is coming soon. It's an exciting time, but it's also a dangerous time. Those who don't do what the Spirit says, who don't press in to the Lord, are going to go from disaster to disaster. But those who do will defeat the disasters and turn them into glory, in Jesus' Name! Your first step in drawing closer to God is to realize that you know God first in His Word. The Needful or Obvious Pt.1

And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her. - Luke 10:41-42. Nobody just happened, we are created for specific purpose. Everybody cannot be head, or leg, or hand etc., each and everyone most identify their place and stay there, thus makeup the body system. The leg cannot say the hand is not performing its functions adequately, as a result, he will take its functions over. The leg would be led by the obvious and abuse its own purpose instead, why? He was not created to perform the function of the hand. When these things are properly understood, it will help us to gain speed towards the fulfillment of our purpose. Everyone will give account of his or her stewardship, when the time comes, what will be your report, when all that you have been doing is the obvious(somebody else's assignment), and ignoring yours or ...
